"Centenary House"

The new Church and Community Centre

We were delighted when the Centre opened and it has seen plenty of use and different events. 'Centenary House' is so named because it was completed and officially opened in late 2007 the year that Christchurch Methodist Church celebrated its centenary.

It is adjacent to the Christchurch Methodist Church but is a separate, detached Edwardian building that has been refurbished and modernised and basically has four rooms plus two kitchens (one on each floor) and four toilets. The downstairs is fully planned for use by the disabled and there is a small garden at the rear that adjoins the main hall.

The rooms are well equipped and are suitable for training courses, committee or general meetings, art exhibitions, fund raising events, counselling sessions, small parties and celebrations, day retreats and quiet days etc. The rooms are light and welcoming and measure around 200 square feet each facilities are on both floors. The patio and garden can also be used in the better weather. No alcohol is permitted on the premises.

The two downstairs rooms are known as the Carey Room (at the front) and the Gillham Room (at the rear) with access to the garden. The kitchen and toilets (one adapted for the disabled) are adjacent.

Upstairs there is the Warner Room (at the front) and the Leslie Room at the rear this room is particularly used by the Junior Church and young people. As with downstairs, there is an adjacent kitchen, two toilets and also a shower room.

For photographs of the rooms, please see the main Centenary House page.

The Centre also accommodates the Hastings, Bexhill & Rye Methodist Circuit Office and please see the Circuit website for full details.

We are conveniently situated 100 metres from the Bexhill Hospital and there is usually the ability to park in adjacent residential roads with no restriction.

On Sundays the Centre is fully used by the church but on other days the facilities can be hired assuming that they are not being used by the church or circuit.

In the church building we also have a large and a small hall that can also be used by the community see details on the Room Hire page. If you would like to view the Centre or the Halls, have a leaflet sent to you or discuss fees and bookings etc please contact:
